With fluctuating temperatures likely to increase summer stress in poultry, farmers are asked to ensure adequate protein in the feed.
A press release from Agromet Field Unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute and Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai said that the maximum and minimum temperature will be 104 degree Fahrenheit and 78.8 degree Fahrenheit respectively. Wind speed will be around five km per hour from southeast and relative humidity will be in the range of 28 to 70 per cent. The fluctuating temperature is not favourable for poultry as it increases the stress. Hence to avoid variation in egg weight, farmers should ensure adequate protein in the feed with sufficient lysine and methionine levels, the release added.
